Rich Moisturizer for Dry, Sensitive and Mature Skin
Making your own moisturizer that is rich for dry, sensitive and mature skin
Here is a recipe for a rich face cream. It is particularly suitable
if the face has been exposed to the drying effect of cold, wind, rain,
sun or central heating, and the skin has become very dry and perhaps a
little red or flaky. The recipe contains both essential and base oils
that have a deeply moisturizing effect on the skin.
You will need the following ingredients:
- 4 g of beewax
- 2 heat-resistance glass bowls
- A pan of hot water
- 20 g cocoa butter
- 15 ml (3 teaspoons) each of sweet almond and jojoba oils
- 10 ml (2 teaspoons) of rosehip-seed oil
- A hand whisk or electric beater with a low setting
- 10 ml (2 teaspoons) of rose water
- 5 ml (1 teaspoon) of glycerin
- 8 drops each of rose otto and frankincense
- 4 drops each of geranium and carrot seed
- A large glass jar
Steps to make your own moisturizer for dry, sensitive and mature
skin:
- Melt the beeswax in one of the glass bowls, placed inside a pan of
hot water over a gentle heat. Add the cocoa butter, the sweet almond
and jojoba oils, and the rosehip-seed oil, beating the mixture
steadily.
- In the other bowl heat the rose water and glycerin until the
contents of both bowls are the same temperature and thoroughly warmed
through.
- Now add the rose-water mixture, drop by drop, into the oils,
beating steadily all the time - like making mayonnaise.
- Remove the pan from the heat and stir until the mixture cools. Mix
in thoroughly the rose otto and frankincense, the geranium and carrot
seed. Pour into the glass jar.
